We had reported about the Bajaj CT 100 ES Alloy Wheel model recently. Bajaj has now come up with Platina ES Spoke wheel model, in order to further expand its product portfolio in the budget-end bike market. The new Bajaj Platina ES Spoke Wheel model can be called as a cheaper version of the Platina Comfortec but without the alloy wheels. The ex-showroom price of the new Bajaj Platina ES is Rs 42,650. The Bajaj Platina ES with spoke wheel model has gone on sale at an ex-showroom price of Rs 42,650. This model is almost Rs 3000 cheaper than the alloy wheels model. The spoke wheel model misses on the alloy wheels but has an electric start option . This model is available in red and black paint schemes.

The Bajaj Platina ES is powered by a 102 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that also powers the pricier variant. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed Manual Transmission. It pumps out a peak power of 8.2 BHP at 7,500 RPM and a peak torque of 8.6 Nm at 5,000 RPM. The bike is easy to maintain because of its long service interval it offers. The bike needs service at every 5000 kms and needs an oil replacement at every 10,000 kms.

The Bajaj Platina ES comes with an updated suspension setup. There are telescopic forks at the front which are now  28% longer and offer a better ride. At the rear the twin shock absorbers are 22% longer than earlier and offer better cushioning. The bike has 110 mm drum brakes at both the front and the rear. A disc brake option is not provided.

For any entry level motorcycle, a good fuel mileage is very important. The new Platina ES Spoke Wheel model lives up to the expectations. The claimed mileage of the bike is 104 KMPL. The bike can offer up to 82 KMPL even in real world conditions. If we compare only the claimed mileage, the new bike is even more fuel efficient than the entry-level Bajaj CT100B (99.1 KMPL).

Quite obviously the Platina ES being an entry level model isn’t too high on features. That said, it still offers some decent features for comfort and convenience including rubber footpads, softer seat, better cushioning for the suspensions and longer service intervals.
