The Seoul based South Korean Car major; Kia Motors, the affiliate company of Hyundai Motor Company is all set to launch three news cars between 2019-22 in its India debut. This includes a mid size SUV and a sedan. Kia Motors has recently signed an MOU with the State Government of Andhra Pradesh to build a new 600 acres manufacturing facility at Penukonda, about 75 km from Anantapur. The US$ 1.1 billion world class manufacturing plant at Anantapur is expected to start mass production by 2019. With it’s targeted 2019 launch, the company is keenly awaiting for its first interaction with Indian customers. The plant has an annual production capacity of 300,000 cars and the company is expecting to achieve an annual sales of the entire production capacity post its debut. Though the company is yet to reveal the names the line up for India, it plans to produce a strategic sedan and compact SUV and is confident that the new additions to Kia’s global brands will be well received by customers across India.
With the aggressive foray of Kia in India, the competition in domestic car market is all set to heat up. The company is confident to counter the challenge from the Indian market leaders like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, Honda and Tata Motors through innovative and exhaustive focus on products, marketing strategies and a robust dealer set up.
Kia Motors, Korea has been able to maintain it’s vibrant growth year after year. It has now become one of the top 60 global brands with a brand value at US$ 6.3 billion. The Kia cars are well received world over and have strong presence in North America, Western Europe and China. The company has sold nearly 30 lacs cars globally last year. The company is intends to follow it’s global brand slogan “The Power to Surprise,” in India as well.
The Indian company is presently working on dealer partnership and development of indigenous components and accessories. The company though lesser known in India, intends to launch it’s pre-marketing activities around major sports events before its product launch in 2019.
As the Indian car company is aiming to be among the top 5 carmakers in India by 2022, India is set witness an exciting period ahead post the Kia’s debut in 2019.
