Maruti Ciaz Facelift India- Launch Date
|New 2017 Maruti Ciaz||August 2017
Maruti will be launching the Ciaz facelift in the first half of 2017. The new model 2017 Maruti Ciaz launch is most likely to take place in the month of August, 2017. Earlier, Maruti had plans to sell the Ciaz through the Nexa sales channel. But since there were delays in Nexa’s launch, the Ciaz was sold through normal Maruti Suzuki dealerships despite the Ciaz being a premium offering. Now, Maruti has shifted the sales of the Ciaz to its Nexa outlets. The Ciaz facelift will use these Nexa dealerships for retail.
Honda has already launched the facelift version of the City . Maruti will bring in the new Ciaz possibly in August, 2017. Last but definitely not the least, Hyundai will bring in the new Verna to India by mid 2017. All this means that this particular segment is all set to witness major activity this year.
Maruti Ciaz Facelift India- Price
|Minimum||Rs. 7.50 lakh|
|Maximum||Rs. 10.50 lakh|
Prices of the facelift version of the Ciaz should remain more or less the same. Due to the addition of new features, the top end variants could get more expensive. If reports are to be belived, the Ciaz will adopt a new variant nomenclature, since it will be sold through the Nexa sales channel,. There will be five variants on offer – Sigma, Zeta, Delta, Alpha and S. The ‘S’ trim is exactly the same as the ‘RS’ trim. One can presume that, Maruti wants to reserve the ‘RS’ badge for higher performance variants like the Baleno RS only. Therefore the switch to S from RS. Here’s the current Maruti Ciaz price list –

The upcoming Ciaz facelift will remain the same as the current car mechanically. It will continue with the current set of 1.3 L diesel and 1.4 L petrol engines. These engines might not be the most powerful in the segment, but they are very fuel efficient. There doesn’t seem to be any plan of introducing the S-Cross’ 1.6 L diesel. Just the petrol Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims will be offered with a 4-speed automatic transmission option.
Maruti Ciaz Facelift India- Mileage
|Mileage||20.73 KMPL (MT)/19.12 KMPL (AT)||28.09 KMPL|
It is a fact that the 1.3 L Diesel, aided by Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid tech, makes the Ciaz the most fuel efficient car on sale in India. It claims a mileage of 28.09 KMPL. Even the petrol engine offers a high average fuel mileage of around 20 KMPL.
Maruti Ciaz Facelift India- Design
Like most of the Maruti facelifts, the Ciaz will not be getting a comprehensive overhaul. Instead of that, it will feature minor cosmetic updates to the exteriors. The changes could be very similar to the China-spec Alivio sedan seen in pictures here. Both, the front and rear bumper will get some additional chrome garnish. It is likely that there would be a slightly redesigned grille on offer as well.
We’re not expecting Maruti to make a major change to the interiors of the car. The black beige cabin from the current car will be carried over to the new model. However, it is likely that Maruti could add a few features including a sunroof. Already the Ciaz’s cabin is pretty rich in terms of the equipment on offer.
Maruti Ciaz Facelift India- Engine and Transmission
The 1.3 L Diesel and 1.4 L Petrol engines from the current car will be carried over. The petrol unit of the Ciaz is available with an optional 4-speed automatic transmission as well. However, there is no diesel automatic variant on offer. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard across the entire range. There have been rumors that the Ciaz will receive the S-Cross’ 1.6 L Diesel engine as well. However, there hasn’t been an official word on that yet. Thanks to Suzuki’s mild hybrid tech, the Ciaz SHVS diesel returns 28.09 KMPL overall which makes it the most fuel-efficient car in the country. Apart from this it also helps the Ciaz avail tax benefits under the Government’s FAME initiative that promotes Hybrid and electric cars.
