Not many would have noticed the Tata Aria on road. The reason being its failure to make a mark in the market.  Tata has now given the Aria a complete overhaul in the form of the Hexa. As compared to the Tata Aria, the Hexa looks much better in terms of of the exteriors and interiors and has great features. That said,  Tata is expecting the MPV-SUV crossover to go well with the Indian car byers. In short the Tata wants the Hexa to complete what was started by the Aria. There is no doubt that the Hexa looks a more complete car than the Aria. Still we are gonna compare the two cars for you in terms of their specs, mileage, design and other important parameters.

Tata Hexa vs Tata Aria Comparison- Price

The Tata Hexa is expected to be positioned at a competitive price on the price chart. It is believed it would be carry a starting price tag of Rs. 11 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top end models could go upto Rs 17-18 lakhs.

On the other hand Tata was giving heavy discounts on the Aria and it was available for Rs 8.85 lakhs of late.

The higher end Hexa features a Tata’s Varicor 400 diesel engine that pumps out 156 bhp of max power and a peak torque of 400 Nm . This is around 6 bhp of more power and 80 Nm of  more torque than the Aria’s engine. For the Hexa, both the manual and the automatic transmission options will be available.

Talking about the  entry level Hexa, the car gets the Aria’s marginally less powerful engine.  The Hexa will also feature a an all wheel drive, 4 driving modes and a Terrain Response System. The Tata Aria and the entry level Hexa engines come mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The top end models get a choice of 6 speed Manual and Auto gearboxes. Also, the Hexa’s fuel efficiency will be higher than that of the Aria.

Even though the Tata Aria was already loaded with features, Tata has added additional features to the Hexa like a Harman sourced 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new 10-speaker JBL audio system, and much more. In addition to it, the top end variants will also get great features like ambient lighting, LED DRLs,a colour MID, six airbags and more. The Hexa would come with new alloy wheels and there would also be a terrain response system on offer.

Even though the Hexa retains the overall SUV-MPV crossover kind of looks of the Aria, the styling is more bold and looks the vehicle looks aggressive. The bonnet is more flatter compared to the Aria and the bumpers and body cladding add some tough looks to the exteriors.

The Hexa features bigger wheels in comparison to the Aria. The Aria had a vertical tail lamp setup whereas the Hexa gets split LED tail lamps combined with a  thick chrome bar above the number plate. Despite the changes the Hexa still shares some looks with the Aria, thanks to the similar headlamps and overall shape.

The Hexa’s interiors have a more sophisticated look compared to the plain surfaces of the Aria’s dashboard. . The Hexa also gets rectangular AC vents. Just below it is the center console with the touchscreen audio system. Other changes include that of the steering wheel, instrument console etc. The Hexa also features a climate control air conditioning system. When it comes to the dashboard design,  again the Hexa has bits of resemblance to the Aria. The wheelbase of the Hexa is the same as that of the Aria, Tata has claimed there is more room in the second and third row of seats. In comparison to the Aria, the Hexa’s cabin has an overall darker color scheme.

Compared to the Aria, the Hexa is a bit shorter. Despite the wheelbase remaining the same, Tata claims the Hexa will have a better legroom. Though Tata has not revealed the actual capacity of the fuel tank, it is expected to be the same as that of the Aria.

It is clear that Tata has given a lot of thought and effort to reinvent the Aria in the form of the Hexa. As of now, at least on paper, the Hexa seems a much better car overall. It has a better engine, more features, improved looks and combines well as an SUV and MPV. Below we compare the Tata Hexa and the Tata Aria on certain key parameters.

  • Design – The Hexa design looks a lot better than that of the Aria and looks more of an SUV than a MPV.  The design would definitely help it make a mark in the Indian Market.
