The Indian subsidiary of the Japanese two-wheeler giant, Yamaha India Motorcycles, plans to launch the Yamaha R15 V3 in India. The version 3.0 would replace the Version 2.0 in the entry-level of performance bike segment of the Indian motorcycle market. The R15 V3.0 is on sale in a few South Asian markets, like those of Indonesia and Malaysia. Just by the looks of it, the upcoming new Yamaha R15 V3.0 looks like a slightly smaller YZF-R6. As of now, the Yamaha R15 has a price of Rs 1.18 lakh ex showroom New Delhi. At this price, the full-fairing bike is the most expensive model in its class. The V 2.0 motorcycle is currently powered by a single-cylinder, 149cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine. The engine boasts of SOHC technology. The engine pumps out a maximum power of 17 PS .It delivers a peak torque of 15 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Whereas in comparison, the new V3.0 comes gets a 155cc engine which benefits from forged piston as well as lighter DiASil (Direct Aluminium Silicon) cylinder. The new engine pumps out comparatively 2.31 PS of more. However, its peak torque is rated at 0.3 Nm lower.
The engine of the V 3.0 comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Indonesia model comes with a slipper clutch and a soft compound tyres from Pirelli. The India version will most likely offer a MRF rubber to keep costs in check.
