The Chennai based TVS Motor is the third largest two wheeler manufacturer in India. The TVS Motor has been in news in the recent past with its new launches like; the most powerful TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, the new TVS Victor and BSIV compliant TVS Jupiter Scooter. NEW TVS Apache RTR 160

 The new Apache RTR 160 is being strategically positioned as the “entry level” Apache motor cycle and is planned to be launched at the Auto Expo 2018. It has exceptional features and performance which makes it entitle to fall in the same category as that of Yamaha YZF-R15. It also offers a challenge to its rival Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 which fully justifies the expected price tag.

NEW TVS Apache RTR 180

With the launch of new RTR 160, the new Apache 180 will also follow with enhance features. The new Apache RTR 180 is being launched with similar features and styling as that of RTR 160. It is planned to have mono shock rear suspension and fully digital speedo console. It comes in two models RTR 180 and RTR 180 ABS which offers dual channel ABS to ensure added safety to the rider. To make the deceleration safer for the rider, the ABSs are complemented by revolutionary RLP system. While the new Apache RTR 160 is likely to retain the existing engine, the Apache RTR 180 is expected to get slightly superior in terms of power, torque and throttle response.

This is the much awaited 300 cc Apache RR 310 S sports bike, also known as Akula 310 set to be launched before coming festive season. This bike was first previewed during 2016 Auto Expo. The bike is currently under testing and its images have already become quite popular on the web. The Apache RR 310 S is being jointly developed with the TVS collaborator BMW Motorrad. It is expected to be a big hit from TVS series. The Apache 310 S bike has the same engine as the BMW G310R but the 313 engine is likely to have more power and torque. It is also expected to come with optional ABS. Though the bike is not expected to be a cheaper option, as per the present indications, it seems to be priced very attractively in the segment.


TVS Apache RTR 200 4V

Presently, this is the most powerful Apache motorcycle. It was launched amid great fanfare sometime back. It is equipped with suspension with floating piston shock absorber, precision tuned compression and rebound damping for perfect track balance. It comes with racing tyres and ABS for greater safety. The Apache RTR 200 4V has another complementary model Apache RTR 200 4V FI which is slightly faster motorcycle than the previous one. It has an acceleration time of 3.9 seconds as per TVS Motor with top speed at 129 kmph being 2 kmph faster.

At the 2016 Indonesia Motorcycle Show (IMOS) in Jakarta, the TVS X21 racing concept bike was showcased along with Apache RR 310 S sports bike (Akula 310). In principle, the TVS X21 is a racing version of RTR 200 4V with light weight body built and race tuned engine. The bike is equipped with 197.7 cc, 4 valve, and single cylinder engine. This bike is expected to have 27 BHP power and 22 Nm torque. This bike comes with aggressive styling fitted with race components, instrument console with digital speedometer, tachometer, clock, acceleration and lap timing.

TVS EnTorq 210 was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 and is likely to be available in the market by the end of this year. It is a racing scooter and expected to be the foundation for the launch of company’s new generation scooters. It is expected to have 125 cc engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection making it to achieve close to 14 BHP power and 10 Nm torque. The new generation TVS EnTorq 210 racing scooter has an appealing clean, uncluttered look and trendy aerodynamic front portion design.

The TVS IQube will be the first hybrid scooter to be launched in India by TVS by this year end. It was showcased first in 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. The hybrid technology is expected to have large potential in India. The hybrid concept is also expected to support government drive for cleaner and cheaper transport modes to control increasing emission levels. The scooter will be equipped with a 100cc carbureted, single cylinder engine paired to an electric motor. The power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a four speed gearbox, both the engines combined output should be around 10 BHP power and 15 Nm torque.  The price of around 1 lac may not look very attractive with 28% GST on hybrid vehicles but it should find acceptability in the long run due to the economy of operations and cleaner technology. For city driving the hybrid technology is immensely popular in European market and the trend is expected to pick up in India too.
